Resin printing micro QR device tags

Use high-resolution MSLA or DLP printers to produce durable, scannable QR medallions that mount seamlessly to consumer electronics.

Printer & resin recommendations

Validated on Anycubic Photon Mono X, Elegoo Mars 4, and Formlabs Form 3. Use engineering resins for higher heat tolerance or flexible resins for impact resistance. Suggested layer height: 0.05 mm, base layer exposure: 35 seconds, normal exposure: 2.2 seconds.

Pre-print preparation

  • Orient the QR face at 45° to the build plate to reduce suction and preserve sharpness.
  • Increase anti-aliasing to level 2 and enable pixel blur to smooth voxel transitions without loss of detail.
  • Add chamfered supports beneath the tag perimeter and manually support interior islands to prevent floating voxels.
  • Post-cure for the manufacturer recommended time, then pigment fill recesses for contrast.

Finishing workflow

After washing and curing, lightly sand the top surface with 800-grit paper, then apply enamel paint to the recessed modules. Wipe the surface clean before drying. Finish with a UV-resistant top coat for longevity.

Use 3M VHB tape or epoxy for mounting. Validate readability with both iOS and Android devices to confirm high-resolution accuracy.
